Tiaris guide
Teach a lesson
Choose apps and websites, then start, extend and end a lesson while preserving work.

Sign in and open My classrooms. Choose a classroom you can conduct. The computer roster shows installed apps per computer and their availability across the classroom. Compose a lesson directly or choose a personal/shared preset. You can edit your own presets and duplicate someone else’s shared preset.
Choose Administrator baseline, Single app or Allowed apps. The first adds no app restriction to the administrator baseline. Lessons only narrow that baseline. Prohibited native applications are suspended as a whole, with network and input blocked; their documents and unsaved work are preserved. Select optional app launches when you want the apps opened at Start. Starting a lesson does not install missing apps.
Optionally enable a Website whitelist in the managed browser. Add whole HTTPS sites, exact pages or path prefixes. Exact pages include their query; fragments are ignored. Paths include descendants at segment boundaries. Add sign-in websites explicitly when needed. You can also add links to open at Start. Baseline and lesson website rules must both permit a destination. Rules govern top-level HTTP(S) navigation and page interaction in managed Chromium; they do not filter every embedded resource, background request or WebSocket.
Select the computers for the lesson and Start. The default is 60 minutes, with a maximum of three hours. The selected seats stay fixed for the lesson, even if no student is signed in yet. Start begins the timer with zero eligible sessions, so the dashboard can show seats waiting for sign-in. Automatic admission is on by default: an eligible student who signs in to a selected seat can join before the deadline. Turn it off to require explicit review and inclusion for later sign-ins. Computers outside the selected scope never join because room membership changes. One classroom can have one active lesson, and a computer cannot participate in conflicting lessons.
During a lesson, change the allowed apps or website rules from the policy editor. The change keeps the original end time and requires each computer to confirm the new policy. It does not reopen apps or links selected at Start. Use Extend if you want to change the end time.
Review progress per computer. A launch receipt means the launcher accepted the request; application restriction and browser coverage need separate current observations. Partial or stale evidence explains what remains unconfirmed. Refresh or reopen Tiaris to find the same lesson. Signing out or closing your tab does not end it.
Use Extend to add time up to three hours from the original Start, without reopening apps or links. Offline participants need fresh review and Resume. Use Include for an eligible computer outside automatic admission, or when its device was re-enrolled. Resume restores controls without replaying launches. Automatic admission requires a protocol-4 workstation and an administrator- classified student account. Unclassified accounts and teacher, administrator, remote, locked or ambiguous sessions cannot participate. Shared student accounts are shown as shared accounts, not as named individuals. These rules also apply to new manual lessons; older lessons keep their prior behavior.
Select End lesson to restore the administrator baseline. Apps, tabs, documents and unsaved work remain open; work allowed by the baseline resumes. The lesson also ends at its deadline. If a computer loses server contact, a valid bounded local lesson expiry restores its baseline; Cleanup unconfirmed remains until Tiaris receives release evidence. Reconnect and check its next observation. Lost session or browser authority blocks interaction until fresh trusted evidence arrives; it does not grant a normal unrestricted desktop. The dashboard separately reports managed baseline, lesson policy, blocked or unconfirmed session evidence. Ask your administrator for help with unsupported computers.
